Vicky Yiannoutsos, WIFT member and uber-experienced industry type, is running a series of film acting classes in Auckland from April to July. They're aimed at actors, directors and writers, and explore the actor's experience from the "inside out".

Vicky says, "Working with actors has taught me many things. Namely, that good screen storytelling is experienced emotionally, through empathy and connection to our characters, their relationships and the worlds they inhabit. This has led to a rich exploration of techniques, awakening creative pathways, which guide us to the pulsing heart of film performance."

Course one: Tuesday evenings, April 25 - June 5
Course two: Thursday evenings, April 27-June 7
Weekend intensive: July 29-30

Classes are held at Unitec in Mt Albert. For more details and to register, contact Vicky Yiannoutsos at vicky.y@xtra.co.nz or on 027 233 4333.

A BIT ABOUT VICKY

She trained at the Jeremiah Comey Acting Studios in Los Angeles, and has coached some of our finest film actors and directors. She has run two acting studios in Grey Lynn, taught extensively within the film industry as well as running courses at Toi Whakaari, Auckland University, UCOL, TAPAC. She is one of the tutors currently delivering the Screen Acting program at Unitec in Auckland and in 2013 assisted bringing Jeremiah Comey to Unitec where they co-taught an intensive industry workshop for actors, writers and directors. Vicky develops, produces and directs theatre and film works.

ACTORS
In this series of classes Vicky returns to the spine of her teaching - the Chairs - an actors 'gym' technique, which uses the script to explore connectivity between actors, expand emotional muscle and flexibility, enhancing the actor's visceral experience of their character and world. Gains from the 'gym' allow the actor to make the role their own and discover subtext in performance. This work will benefit actors wishing to reinvigorate their acting muscle, remove blocks limiting creative choices and improve sight-reading skills.

WRITERS/DIRECTORS
These classes will also appeal to writers and directors who wish to get a deeper understanding of the actor experience as well as gain techniques to explore characters and their worlds from the Inside Out. Must be prepared to work as an actor to access the Living World of character. Writers will be encouraged to write scripts for class.
