The New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) today confirms four more films for its annual Autumn Events programme, which will screen in Auckland and Wellington in May.
The latest four films to be announced are:
- The 1954 landmark musical A Star is Born (pictured) with Judy Garland and James Mason.
- Greta Garbo's exquisite Camille.
- The English-voiced version of 1980 French animation The King and the Mockingbird, recommended for ages 5+.
- Les Blank and Maureen Gosling's Burden of Dreams, which immortalises Werner Herzog's making of Fitzcarraldo (earlier announced to also screen in the programme).
"This Autumn Events programme concentrates on films that truly fill the giant screen. The grandest screens in the country enable us to present the best possible experience of these classics. The CinemaScope and Technicolor extravaganza of A Star is Born for example, meticulously transferred to HD, means we'll be viewing the closest possible resemblance to the film as it was first seen," says NZIFF Director Bill Gosden.
The full schedule is now available and tickets are on sale from Wednesday 5 April 9am for both Auckland and Wellington. The dates and ticketing outlets are:
Wellington, 3 - 21 May, Embassy Theatre. Tickets available from nziff.co.nz.
Auckland, 10 - 21 May, The Civic and Academy Cinema. Tickets available from nziff.co.nz and Ticketmaster.
