A big shoutout to Gaylene Barnes and Kathleen Gallagher! Their film Seven Rivers Walking - Haere M?rire was the top-selling single-screening film at the New Zealand International Film Festival, and its world premiere at Christchurch's Lady Issac Theatre Royal sold out.
The film documents a series of protest walks and talks along the rivers of Canterbury. Threatened by poisoning, plundering and encroachment - they are in crisis mode - and Cantabrians are getting more and more upset. Catch the film at these screenings, and at the EVENT DOC FEST in Auckland, where the film is playing at the Rialto Newmarket from 31 August.
