Wahine celebrated at Nga Taonga panel tomorrow

Posted Tuesday 22 Aug 2017

We're in favour of any event that highlights the awesome work done by women in our industry, so this August 23 event (yep, that's this Wednesday!) looks like one to be at.

Held at Ng? Taonga in Wellington, the evening will look beyond limiting stereotypes, celebrate the mana of M?ori women and acknowledge the many contributions M?ori women have made in Aotearoa.

The W?hine Toi Whakaata - Panel Discussion is in association with W?hine: Beyond the 'dusky maiden' exhibition (co-curated by Catherine Bisley). You can look forward to silent material from Ng? Taonga's film collections (with live taonga puoro accompaniment), as well as a panel discussion on representation of M?ori women on screen led by Dr Arini Loader. Panelists include Nancy Brunning and M?ria George.
