Congratulations to the WIFT members below, whose remarkable short films are being included in the line-ups of prestigious international festivals.

The World in Your Window (pictured above), directed by Zoe McIntosh and produced by Hamish Mortland, has been selected for the main competition at France's Clermont-Ferrand festival, and also more recently at New York's Tribeca festival.

Do No Harm, directed and written by Roseanne Liang (and also produced by Mortland), was the only New Zealand film to be selected for Sundance, and will have its world premiere there.

Friedlander film

Two months after acclaimed photographer Marti Friedlander died, Doc Edge kicks off their Doc Edge Presents 2017 programme with Marti - The Passionate Eye.

The film's director and WIFT member Shirley Horrocks will attend the screening.

Saturday 28 January, 2pm, Auckland Art Gallery.

Marti: The Passionate Eye is a tribute to the work of one of New Zealand's greatest photographers, Marti Friedlander. After training in England, Friedlander married a Kiwi and moved to Henderson, Auckland which she found fusty and conservative after her bohemian life in London. Photography allowed Marti to negotiate a relationship with New Zealand and her curious and questioning lens has provided a unique record of New Zealand lifestyles from the 1950's onwards. The film is a very personal account of Marti's life from early childhood, her introduction to photography and working life in London as a young, free-spirited woman, to the transition to life on the other side of the world.

Marti Friedlander was awarded the 2016 Doc Edge Superhero award.
