Cleverman small

The first two episodes of Cleverman season two debuted at the Sydney Film Festival earlier this month - and it's just been announced that season two will premiere in New Zealand on TVNZ Ondemand on Friday June 30 and Duke on Monday July 3 (Freeview channel 13).

And what a list of talented WIFT members (and other women) involved!

The critically acclaimed TV drama series is a co-production between Australia's Goalpost Pictures and New Zealand's Pukeko Pictures. Cleverman tells the story of two Aboriginal half-brothers who join forces to battle an ancient mythological monster when one of them is given the mantle of 'Cleverman'.

In this not-too-distant dystopian future, an ancient species known as Hairypeople fight for survival on the fringes of society - a comment on racism, asylum seekers and border protection. Otherworldly Dreamtime creatures also emerge in this action-packed series.

WIFT members involved:

Angela Littlejohn - Exec Producer
Sharon Lark - Producer
Rowena Patterson - Post Production Supervisor
Bonnie Philp - VFX & Post Coordinator
Amanda Heatley - Sound Producer
Lisa Chatfield - Pukeko Exec Producer
Peter Roberts - Editor
Annie Collins, Angela Boyd and Lala Rolls - Additional Editors

For Goalpost Pictures, the Australian producer was Rosemary Blight and the director was Leah Purcell - so it was a very female-driven production.

Well done to all our Pukeko Pictures members who worked on this project! Watch the trailer for season 2.
