Hats off to the multi-talented April Phillips, whose short film R.E.M. has been selected for the 21st Fantasia International Film Festival (FIFF) in Montreal.
FIFF is now recognised as the largest and most influential event of its kind in North America, a leader on the genre film scene and one of the country's most popular film festivals. More than 100,000 festival-goers attended Fantasia in 2016 and it boasts an impressive list of famous industry guests. Quentin Tarantino is quoted as saying it's "the most important and prestigious genre film festival on this continent".
The horror/fantasy/sci-fi R.E.M. has also been selected for the Madrid International Film Festival next month; writer/director/actress April Phillips has been nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Short Film and Best Original Screenplay Short Film.
