WIFT member Jeremy Macey, co-producer of The Great Maiden's Blush, is pleased to announce the film is now available for sale on DVD.

The moving, character-driven drama about the precarious friendship between two solo, first-time mothers won Best Self-Funded Film and Best Actress (Miriama McDowell) at the New Zealand Film Awards last month. It was the only New Zealand film to be included in Graeme Tuckett's Top 10 Films of 2016. Miriama also won Best Actress at the 2016 Festival du Film Antipodes in St Tropez, France.

Focus on fabulous females at French Film Festival

Posted Monday 06 Mar 2017

Talented women directors, strong female leads... we're loving the line-up at this year's Alliance Francaise French Film Festival.

Now in its 11th year, the festival is underway and runs until mid-April around the country. There are stories about women breaking free from circumstance and family pressure, or fighting the pharmaceutical industry to prevent unnecessary deaths. There's a rom-com that completely subverts the genre. There are films that reinforce the strength of feminine perspectives in French cinema.

The good folk behind this annual cinematic treat have compiled a round-up of the festival's notable films by women - it's a great starting point for exploring the festival programme.
