Harry Potter, eat your heart out - there's a new boy-wizard film in town. WIFT member James Atkins is holding a cast-and-crew screening this Sunday of his new short film You're A Wizard Kevin.

You're A Wizard Kevin (pictured) is a short film inspired by a single line of dialogue intended for a two-weekend project, which evolved into a 20-minute fantasy epic two years in the making and involving more than 100 people. It centres on Kevin, a young Asian man studying in New Zealand; he has few friends and is often bullied. One day he meets the mighty but reckless Wolfgang, a mysterious figure who trains him to become a wizard.

The film will screen alongside a showcase of four other films from Brothers in Crime, including work by some up-and-coming young women. If you were involved in You're A Wizard Kevin, or if you'd like to talk collaboration for future projects, head along.

When: 8pm, Sunday 4 June
Where: Academy Cinemas, Auckland CBD
Screening time: 1 hour
