The NZ International Film Festival has just announced the first eight films in its 2017 line-up, and we're delighted to see that WIFT member Gaylene Preston's doco My Year with Helen is among the films featured.

Co-produced by fellow WIFTer Catherine Madigan, the film was made with unique access to New Zealand's former Prime Minister Helen Clark in 2016 as she campaigned to become the UN's first female Secretary General.

Preston delivers what NZIFF describes as "a fascinating portrait of Helen Clark on a mission - and a laconic account of the exasperating circumstances wherein she hit the ceiling at the United Nations".

Screening dates and times will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, you can read more about the film here. Huge congratulations to Gaylene and her team - we can't wait to see the film.
