WIFT winners at Doc Edge awards

A huge round of applause to WIFTers Prisca Bouchet and Leanne Pooley, for ther awards success at the Doc Edge International Film Festival Opening Gala Evening last week.

Prisca Bouchet won Best New Zealand Short Documentary for After Life, which is now eligible for consideration in the Documentary Short Subject category of the Academy Awards�.

The festival recognised Leanne Pooley (ONZM) for her immense contribution to the documentary world, presenting her with the Doc Edge Superhero Award. A Canada-born filmmaker based in Auckland, Pooley's career spans more than 20 years and she has documented the incredible stories of New Zealanders in award-winning films including 25 April, Beyond The Edge, Topp Twins - Untouchable Girls, Hunting Douglas and Shackleton's Captain.

Brilliant Matariki film line-up at Nga Taonga

Wellington's Nga Taonga Sound and Vision has curated a cracking line-up of films for their Matariki: Tau Hou 2017 programme, celebrating outstanding New Zealanders on film.

From now until June 16, there's a range of films on which many WIFTers have worked - too many to name, in fact. There are dramas about secrets, sci-fi, documentaries on strong women, history and Maoridom brought to life, a classic crowd-pleaser, and much more. Check it out!
