Peter Rommell on his alternative approach to making drama

Posted Tuesday 28 Aug 2018

Experience a fascinating evening with master German creative producer Peter Rommel, proudly co-presented by WIFT with Script-To-Screen. Rommel will talking with Philippa Campbell about his approach to filmmaking. A Peter Rommel film is made with a spirit of improvisation - a small crew, hand held cameras, and complete immersion in character for the actors. Rommel (pictured below) will draw on three of his films (Andreas Dresen's multiple award-winning films Grill Point, Cloud 9 and Stopped on Track, the latter two also winners of Un Certain Regard at Cannes Film Festival) showing clips to demonstrate outcomes from this approach during the session. Rommel is in development with Alex Behse and Philippa Campbell on an untitled Max Currie project to be shot next year in Nelson.
