Lighting Console Trainee
Duration: 1 April - 30 August 2019 (4 weeks of prep + entire shooting period )
Reports to: Gaffer and Console Operator
Scope of internship: to train someone to work as a Console Operator on international productions, they will work alongside the Console Operators (on and off set) learning about the role and understanding the technical aspects of the role. Aim would be to have them step into a console operating role on a feature film on conclusion of training.
Candidate needs to be someone who has worked within the local film, television or theatre industry as Lighting Assistant or Board Operator and shows the interest and skills to move into this role.
Dolly / Crane Grip Trainee
Duration: 1 April - 30 August 2019 (4 weeks of prep + entire shooting period )
Reports to: Key Grip
Scope of internship: to train someone to work as a Dolly Grip / Crane grip on international productions, they will work under the Key Grip and learn directly from the Dolly Grips and Crane Grips and learn to handle specialised equipment. The aim would be to have them step into a Dolly Grips role on a NZ feature on conclusion of training
Candidate needs to be: someone who has worked within the industry as Grip Assistant and shows the interest and skills to step up to a Dolly / Crane Grip role.
Costume Illustration Trainee
Duration: 4 February - 21 June 2019 (12 weeks of prep + 9 weeks shoot )
Reports to: Costume Designer and Assistant Costume Designer
Scope of internship: The aim will be to train the successful candidate as a Costume Illustrator. The process will entail working with the Designer or Assistant Designer from the research stage through to creating illustations which can then be realised into costumes for film. The canidate should have a design background, existing knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or similar and a interest in working within Costume in Film and TV. An ability to draw characters and an understanding of fabrics & how they move would be an advantage.
Sound Mixing Trainee
Duration: 15 April - 30 August 2019 (2 weeks of prep + entire shooting period )
Reports to: Production Sound Mixer
Scope of internship: to be exposed to the realities of the role of a production sound mixer and how the entire team works onset. At the end of the traineeship we would expect them to have enough experience to step onto another job as a sound assistant or junior boom operator.
Candidate needs to be entry level, could be recent graduate from a film school who has an interest in sound mixing or someone with a background in sound.
Camera Trainee
Duration: 1 April - 30 August 2019 (4 weeks of prep + entire shooting period )
Reports to: A Camera 1st AC
Scope of internship: an entry level position aimed at giving a very junior camera assistant the exposure to working on a large scale production. They will assist the 1st and 2nd AC's onset. The aim would be for them to step up to a 2nd AC role on a large feature film.
Candidate needs to be: either a film school graduate with an interest in being in the camera department or someone who has just started working within the film industry, in the camera department.
Editorial Intern
Duration: 2 weeks of prep + 19 weeks of shoot + 30 weeks during post production (starts 1 April 2019)
Reports to: Post Production Supervisor
Scope of internship: to be exposed to the Editorial process of a large feature film, assist the 1st Assistant. At conclusion of internship we would aim for them to be able to step into a junior editorial role.
Candidate needs to be: a junior editor with an interest in working on feature films, could be recent film school graduate.
