Here's your chance to hear talented filmmaker Welby Ings discuss his craft. His beautiful short film Sparrow will screen at the Auckland and Wellington Pride Festivals, after a run of international festival screenings last year. Produced by Robin Murphy, Sparrow is the story of a small boy (Merrick Rillstone, pictured above) who is teased because he thinks he can fly. When a family myth about his war veteran grandfather is exploded, he discovers the strength to stand up to the school bullies in a very unusual way. After the screening, Ings will talk about his journey as a filmmaker, how his short films are leading him towards his feature film debut, PUNCH, and you can quiz him in a Q&A. Sparrow will screen in partnership with the Auckland and Wellington Pride Festivals, and with sponsorship from the NZ AIDS Foundation Ending HIV campaign and Nga T?onga Sound & Vision.
