Edmond wins Shanghai Writers' Residency

Congratulations Frances Edmond, the third New Zealander selected for the 2018 Shanghai Writers Residency. Waiheke Island-based Frances will enjoy two months in Shanghai working on a new draft of her film about unsung heroine Kathleen Hall, an unassuming New Zealand missionary nurse who risked her life to smuggle supplies through enemy lines during the Japanese invasion of China in the 1930s. The residency is a joint initiative between the Michael King Writers' Centre, the New Zealand China Friendship Society and the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
