Pequeneza Q&A at Doc Edge Festival premiere

Posted Wednesday 23 May 2018

Be sure to catch Canadian Screen Award-winner Nadine Pequeneza's fascinating documentary The Invisible Heart, at its world premiere in Auckland on May 25, where it is screening as part of the Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival. The Invisible Heart documents the impact of Social Investment Bonds, and Pequeneza (pictured below) will give a Q&A after both screenings on May 25 and May 26. Best known for her focus on social issues, Pequeneza has a Gold Hugo award from the Chicago International Film Festival, and an honourable mention Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association.

Here's a quick synopsis of the documentary: The Invisible Heart tracks the birth of Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) - an investment product designed to raise private capital to pay for social services. Pequeneza's film explores an unorthodox marriage between capitalism and charity. From the halls of power to the struggling underclass, we follow an unusual cast of characters as they attempt to tackle everything from academic failure to homelessness and crime.
