Posted Tuesday 22 May 2018

Candid, funny, caustic, irreverent, poignant and utterly engrossing, here's proof that there is truly nothing like a Dame! Due for release in New Zealand on 7 June, Tea With The Dames is a unique celebration of the lives and careers of four iconic actresses; Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Plowright and Dame Maggie Smith. All have gone from being fledgling actresses in the 1950s to acting royalty; watch these acting legends talk about their lives and their professional experiences across theatre, television and film. Directed by Roger Michell (My Cousin Rachel, Notting Hill), the film also includes a range of astonishing archive material.

To win tickets to this unmissable release, watch the trailer >> and answer this question:

Winning series in TVNZ's New Blood competition released

Posted Tuesday 22 May 2018

We're celebrating with the winners of TVNZ's New Blood competition, Ashleigh Reid and Isla Macleod, whose comedy-drama Oddly Even has been released as a full series. The two 23-year olds, who met at the NZ Broadcasting School, shot their pilot episode over a weekend, with borrowed gear and as many friends as they could rope in. Selected as national finalists by an industry panel, and after a month-long public vote, the pair won funding to create their ensemble comedy-drama. And we're so glad to hear that out of  the 12 key creative roles, seven were held by women, including another WIFT member, editor Kerri Roggio.

Here's a quick series synopsis:
Liv has a ten-year life plan. Not in the plan is older sister Frankie, who went overseas eight years ago and never came back. Now she's on the doorstep with her suitcase. She has no job, no money, no explanation. But Liv can't stop her from moving in...Frankie owns half the house.
