Winning series in TVNZ's New Blood competition released

We're celebrating with the winners of TVNZ's New Blood competition, Ashleigh Reid and Isla Macleod, whose comedy-drama Oddly Even has been released as a full series. The two 23-year olds, who met at the NZ Broadcasting School, shot their pilot episode over a weekend, with borrowed gear and as many friends as they could rope in. Selected as national finalists by an industry panel, and after a month-long public vote, the pair won funding to create their ensemble comedy-drama. And we're so glad to hear that out of  the 12 key creative roles, seven were held by women, including another WIFT member, editor Kerri Roggio.

Here's a quick series synopsis:
Liv has a ten-year life plan. Not in the plan is older sister Frankie, who went overseas eight years ago and never came back. Now she's on the doorstep with her suitcase. She has no job, no money, no explanation. But Liv can't stop her from moving in...Frankie owns half the house.
