Posted Wednesday 14 Nov 2018

If you have a great idea for a short film, now is the time to script it! Applications for the Aotearoa Short Film Lab are open and entries close in three weeks so get writing! New and emerging writers with bold short film ideas can submit one script and up to three concepts for consideration. The Lab includes a full-day workshop and follow-up sessions with one of the mentors who will guide each participant through the development of their script. There are six slots available for New Zealand filmmakers and two slots for international ones. Films developed with Lab assistance have premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival (I'm Going to Mum's), NZ International Film Festival (Tree) and Show Me Shorts Festival (Zinzan, Baby?). This year Charmer, also developed through the Lab, won the Creative New Zealand Emerging Talent award after it screened at the New Zealand International Film Festival, was official selection at Austin Film Festival and Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival and featured in the Show Me Shorts 2018 programme. The deadline for submissions is 12pm on Monday 3 December, 2018.
