Call for proposals for short films with Polish Jewish connection

Posted Wednesday 03 Apr 2019

There are over 9 million descendants of Polish Jews in the world - what is their connection to the land of their forefathers? The POLIN Museum is calling for proposals for short films that explore this question in creative ways. The 14 shortlisted films completed on the basis of these proposals about Jewish communities living today in Australia and New Zealand, Europe, Israel, Latin America, North America, Poland and South Africa will be featured in an epilogue to POLIN Museum's multimedia narrative exhibition, which is dedicated to the 1000-year history of Polish Jews.
The deadline for applications is 31 August, 2019, and winners will be announced in October 2019.

Au revoir to a French film legend

Posted Wednesday 03 Apr 2019

The wonderful Agns Varda has died, aged 90. The French director was the oldest ever Oscar nominee, and was best known as a key figure in the French New Wave and for a string of documentaries that culminated in an Oscar nomination for Faces Places in 2018. We love the story of how Agns was unable to attend the Oscars nomination lunch, so she sent along several lifesize cardboard replicas of herself!
