He Ara development fund open for applications

The He Ara Development Fund seeks to fund filmmakers of M?ori and Pacific Island heritage to create a range of quality New Zealand feature films shaped through their chosen development framework. There are grants of around $50,000 per application, and projects should be feature film narrative or documentary projects suitable for cinema release (although they are open to creative approaches to distribution).

The application deadline is 9am on Monday, 13 May, 2019.

NZ Polish Film Festival kicks off tonight

The New Zealand Polish Film Festival (NZPFF) kicks off with its Opening Night Gala tonight at Wellington's Roxy Cinema! Festival director Wanda Lepionka tells us that four of the five feature film directors are women. The NZPFF opens with a screening of multi award-winning animation feature drama Another Day of Life, a Polish-Spanish co-production that was 10 years in the making. Enjoy a pre-screening glass of wine and Polish-themed canapes at 5:30pm before the 6:30pm film.


The New Zealand Polish Film Festival and co-hosts the Polish Association of NZ, also invite you for a pre-screening afternoon tea to farewell the Festival for another year. Bring your family and friends to see children's adventure film Double Trouble directed by Marta Karwowska.

When: Sunday 7 April. Afternoon tea starts at 2:30pm, screening starts at 3pm.

Where: Roxy Cinema, 5 Park Rd, MiramarAll tickets only $15. Ticket includes afternoon tea and film screening.
