Meet the African women writers and directors bringing new voices to filmmaking

Movies that explore the beauty of African identity are gaining popularity and global recognition, and women filmmakers from Africa and the African diaspora are leading the way. Streaming website Demand Africa interviewed four African women filmmakers, Wanuri Kahiu, Nikyatu Jusu, Michelle Bello and Idil Ibrahim, all using their talents to bring African cinema to the world.

Bisley's film screening in LA

For members in and around LA in April, head to the Newport Beach Film Festival to catch Catherine Bisley's film Untitled Groping Revenge Fairytale, screening as part of the Down Her Shorts event. UGRF has been screening in North America as part of Vimeo's Ladies With Lenses programmes at the Citizen Jane Film Festival, and at the Anchorage International Film Festival, the Cucalorus Film Festival, and the Victoria Film Fest in Canada over the last couple of months.
