Keep that applause going, this time for Shirley Horrocks and Gina Dellabarca who have been appointed Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours for services to the film industry. Award-winning documentary maker Horrocks is being honoured for her work chronicling the lives of some of New Zealand's most well-known artists, such as Len Lye, Marti Friedlander, Allen Curnow, Albert Wendt and most recently Sir Paul Callaghan. She has also covered minority areas such as M?ori and Pacific Island topics, disability groups, women's issues, and diversity.
Meanwhile, Show Me Shorts Festival co-founder and director Dellabarca has successfully developed a diversified revenue stream and built a network of high profile ambassadors to advocate for the festival. She was also instrumental in gaining Academy Awards accreditation, so that top award winners can qualify for entry to the Oscars.
