Celebrate International Women's Day with Kate Sheppard

Posted Tuesday 05 Mar 2019

Here's a unique way to celebrate International Women's Day, and experience history coming alive. Project managed by our own Diane McCarthy, the Kate Sheppard Celebration Tours offer the chance to visit the places women's suffrage leader Kate Sheppard lived, worked and worshipped, accompanied by music, poetry and the reimagining of certain events. Kate will be addressing the WCTU meeting about progress towards getting women the vote. Kate was a board member of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in the 1880s and proceeds from this event will go to the YWCA Emergency Transitional and Emergency Housing for women and women with children.
