Support a fellow Wifter - and the environment! Nia Phipps is working on #Strike4climate - The Film, a documentary that tracks five teenagers as they lead the action in the Strike for Climate protests. This observational feature-length documentary tracks the humour, frustration, fear and extraordinary capacity of the young leaders as they work towards the ultimate global climate strike on 27 September 2019. The crew, which includes co-director and co-producer Niva Kay and co-director Emily McDowell, follows these young leaders in observational style as they meet politicians, lawyers, councillors, unions and historians, and as they plan and strategise with their local school strike groups. Right now the doco needs funding for editing purposes.
For our latest video slot we have the just-launched web-series Land of the Long White Cloud. Directed by Kathleen Winter, and produced by the very busy Nia Phipps, the seven-part series tells the stories of New Zealanders who are reflecting on their colonial heritage, and how to take action against racism in Aotearoa. You can watch it on the Herald site exclusively for four weeks, after which it will be on RNZ.
