WIN tickets to Reynolds film Shepherd screening in November
Posted Saturday 26 Oct 2019
We're thrilled to see Julia Reynolds' feature film Shepherd will be screening in New Zealand cinemas from 12 November! Reynolds' sci-fi film was shot in the Waikato, over six years, and follows the main character who grows up on screen. Here's a bit about the film: during their voyage home to Earth from Mars' Moon Base Phobos, the Green family encounter a phenomenon where the entire star system fades from view leaving them without navigation. A lone light appears to one side of the shuttle. Thirteen-year old Eden Green, grieving for her recently dead brother, believes this light will lead them home. Years later, and haunted by guilt of the past and visions of her brother, Eden stumbles on an old travel brochure. She is stunned to see an image of a beach - a location she has seen in a recurring dream. Believing her brother is leading her to it, she leaves her life and ventures out to find the beach.
We're giving away two tickets for one screening at each cinema listed below - all you have to do is click here to watch the trailer then answer the question below:
How old were the narrator and Gaia when they met?
Send your answer in the subject line of an email to email@example.com by 5pm Friday 1 November, 2019. Winners only will be notified by email.
If you're building a business in the screen industry, this programme is for you. Strength in Numbers is designed to teach screen practitioners about growing a sustainable and profitable business while doing the work you want to do. Run by Script to Screen, and led by Australian screen business expert David Court, it's for screen practitioners with a slate of projects and a screen industry business already underway. The programme aims to cultivate a super-smart community of businesspeople in the screen industry who support each other over time - something that's especially important for filmmakers who often work in isolation. The programme's inaugural year saw ten creators of many of our most-loved and successful films, including Jojo Rabbit, The Chills, Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Boy, The Dark Horse, Love Story, Three Wise Cousins, Waru, Vai, and Loading Docs, all brought together to focus on building sustainable businesses.
Here's what you'll need to submit: One paragraph biography about you as a screen practitioner. A statement about why Strength in Numbers Growth would be beneficial to you and your business at this time. A statement about what you would like to get out of the programme. A list of three projects you have in development along with a one-paragraph synopsis or logline for each project and what stage they are at. Links to prior work (up to your two best).
Applications close: Sunday 1 December, at midnight. The first workshop will be in early February 2020.
