Van Beek wins at NZIFF

We're thrilled for Claire van Beek who won the Madman Entertainment Best Emerging Film-Maker award at the NZIFF this year for her short film Daniel. Directed and written by Claire and produced by Alix Whitaker, Daniel follows the journey of a young novice at an isolated convent who is confronted with the sudden desire to explore her sexual self in the wake of meeting a blue-tongued lizard. Claire, who has been a volunteer with the film festival for many years, says the award was exciting and acknowledges all the work from the cast and crew. "Filmmaking isn't done on your own and this is a celebration of the work by everyone." Claire was interviewed by RNZ after her win - Click here to listen to the RNZ interview.
