Golbakhsh's film Night Visions wins private funding

Following an intense weekend of workshops and weeks of mentoring, Shreya Gejji and Ghazaleh Golbakhsh's film Night Visions has emerged from the Pan-Asian film Collective's Short Cuts development lab with a privately donated production grant of $15,000.

The film is about a Pakistani taxi driver who navigates his way through Auckland's night streets, loneliness and kinship, and it competed against eight other teams whose projects underwent close evaluation by two high-profile assessors based overseas.

Gainsborough's Rūrangi claims top audience award at Frameline44 Festival

Great news for WIFT member Craig Gainsborough whose series Rūrangi won the audience vote for best feature offering of this year's Frameline44 Festival, one of the world's largest and most recognised LGBTQ+ film festivals. Rūrangi won the AT&T Audience Award for Narrative Feature. Produced by Gainsborough, the series follows Caz Davis, a transgender activist who returns his rural hometown to rekindle a fraught relationship with his father, and his experiences of dealing with his past post-transition.
