Wairarapa-based producer/director Celia Jaspers is making a move into scripted drama and film and has just wrapped her second short film this year. Co-produced with fellow WIFT member Juanita Deely, the self-funded Milk was shot in Martinborough and relied "entirely on goodwill", says Celia. Professional camera, lighting and sound crew arrived from out of town bringing the very best of tech gear to the set, Martinborough local Gail Wilson, who has worked extensively on The Lord of The Rings, oversaw hair and makeup, and Celia's daughter Charlotte was one of the lead actors. Local businesses also pitched in offering food and services, while Kitchener St Dairy & Tearooms allowed filming for interior shots.
Milk, which is about human kindness, is Celia's second short film of the year; her first, Home School, was created for the VF48 Hours Film Festival where it won Best Family Film. also has official selection to three international festivals: the Boston International Kids Film Festival, Studio City International Film & TV Festival and The International KidsNFilm Festival.
Celia, a director of Hyundai Country Calendar and House Hunters International, wrote Milk during the first New Zealand lockdown.
