Location photographers wanted

Are you keen to take pictures of gorgeous scenery? Film Otago Southland want to expand the coverage and depth of their film locations image library and are looking to contract photographers to capture fresh new location photography across the region.

Of course there's more to it than just taking nice shots! Here's more about the job and the FOS contact details.

The FOS Film Office Coordinators manage enquiries from national and international screen productions. These typically require a fast turnaround response for a collection of location images responding to diverse briefs. We want to represent our beautiful and diverse region as well as possible to any viable enquiry.

Note: We are primarily aiming to contract photographers to go out and capture new and fresh location photography across the region, However, if you wish to apply for the project and have existing images that can complement fresh images, please let us know this in your application.

Application Process

Please provide a sample of your photographic work with a written note about any prior experience working in the screen industry including but not limited to Location Scouting or Location Management.

Your application should also include a brief written description of what makes a strong location image in terms of its format, framing and presentation. It will also include a description of what makes a viable film location.

Please indicate your day rate, any disbursements and the geographical area you would be prepared to work in. We are seeking to capture key filming locations across the whole Otago and Southland region.

Successful Applicants

Selected Location Photographers will be contracted for a specified number of days with a negotiated list of locations in their geographic area.

The requested locations will include the general types of locations that have been commonly requested in enquiries serviced by the Film Offices over the last five years and they will also include any special and unique locations that are present in the region.

The successful applicants will be invited to provide research identifying any special or unique locations in their area. We will value your specialist local knowledge.

All locations photographed must be viable locations for filming; that is they must be safely accessible by crew, in areas where the location owner or manager is likely to give permission.

Selected applicants will present the work back to FOS in well organised and properly labelled folders via Dropbox or on a hard-drive.

Contractual

All work will remain the property of Film Otago Southland and will be used for the purpose of promoting screen locations in the region. FOS will share the images with the New Zealand Film Commission, scouts and other industry enquiries. The locations photographer may also use the images in their portfolio in order to promote their services as a location photographer. The contract for work will be accompanied by a licensing agreement to confirm this.

Timeline for delivery of the work will be negotiated individually with the chosen applicants.
