Method launches kids' online travel game

Auckland-based creative tech studio Method has launched a new immersive children’s game, titled Postcards from Aotearoa, through its gaming arm M Theory, to get children excited about exploring New Zealand’s beautiful surroundings. Method’s managing director Sam Ramlu said the game had also recently been recognised by the international creative digital community in being awarded a Favourite Website Award (FWA).

Postcards from Aotearoa follows Aunty Tui as she invites children to join her in discovering epic New Zealand vacation spots. With restrictions in overseas travel caused by Covid-19 we saw an opportunity to showcase some of the country’s greatest travel gems through a warm hearted and fun game.

M Theory won funding for the project from the highly-competitive NZ On Air games fund. It was  developed using the game engine Unity, and is accessible through the HEIHEI platform via a web browser.
