The deadline for applications to these roles has been extended to Sunday 12 December.
Film Otago Southland (FOS) has been supported by the New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) to develop a series of workshops targeting skill gaps in the regional film crew base.
FOS is now seeking three training facilitators for a fixed term contract to provide the following services:
We will select one training facilitator based in Queenstown, one in Dunedin and one from Ngāi Tahu.
The Training Facilitators will work with and report to the Film Office Coordinators in Dunedin (Antony Deaker) and Queenstown (Kahli Scott).
Please send completed applications to antony.deaker@dcc.govt.nz.
CONTEXT
The screen projects based in the Otago Southland region at the start of 2021 – One Lane Bridge, Under The Vines and The Royal Treatment - achieved an approximately ‘50% crewed locally’ outcome.
Film Otago Southland want to grow this level of local crewing for future projects and will initially target gaps in the existing crew base with a programme of short workshops. The workshops will provide introduction to film crew work generally, as well as specific skills to support entry level placements into grip, sound, camera, locations and production office roles.
Film Otago Southland also want to encourage and support diversity in the industry regionally. Therefore, the design of training and the way in which we engage for participation in the training will be informed by a bi-cultural approach.
TRAINING DELIVERY
Film Otago Southland will contract Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) to deliver the five workshops. The workshops may be delivered on their campus in Invercargill or Queenstown and may also be delivered at suitable film industry related sites. SIT will manage enrolments, delivery and the recognition of the learning achieved in the workshops through micro-credentials. FOS can provide travel assistance where required for travel to training outside of the participants' home district.
The Training Facilitators will work with SIT staff to identify suitable content and level of training required for the workshops. They may also introduce SIT staff to appropriate experienced crew in the region or nationally that could support design and delivery of the training.
