Leanne Pooley workshop on the elusive subject of Tone

Catch acclaimed documentary director and WIFT NZ member Leanne Pooley (Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls, The Girl on the Bridge) at this DEGNZ workshop on the elusive subject of tone.

Leanne will explore how a director crafts and communicates the tone of a film.

When you are dealing with the stories of real people and portraying them on screen, getting the tone wrong can lead to significant problems. Tone is part of everything a documentary director does when approaching a story. It’s part of the narrative, the pace, the look, the music.

Tone is part of every decision a director makes, and in this workshop, Leanne will share practically, using examples from her films on how directors can go about making these decisions.

Travel allowances are available for Full DEGNZ members based outside of the Auckland region.

When: Saturday 24 July, 9:30am-4pm

Where: St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont St, Ponsonby, Auckland
