Māori Television invites producers to provide long-format reo Māori kōrero that has already been filmed. There is much valuable kōrero which may have not made the final edit in productions - it could be speakers from hui, oratory from the marae or ful linterviews. It may be kōrero gathered for a single programme, documentary or series. It may be from kaikōrero who have passed. These will be played as a valuable resource on a Te Reo Channel similar to the Collections of Ngā Tāonga Sound and Vision where kōrero is simply played in its entirety.
Priority is for reo Māori producers and programmes previously made for Māori Television. Kōrero must be 95% reo Māori. Any further required permissions are the responsibility of the producer or production house.
More information is included below, but here are some points to note:
This RFP is not for funding of new filming or productions. It is for existing footage. It does not require music or archives. It is the kōrero as it unfolded.
Submissions should be for basic editing, if needed, of any existing footage and any related production costs ie you may have to hire a researcher or pay for transfer and dubbing.
All that's required is a two-page pitch accompanied by a full budget by 4pm, Friday 25 June 2021.
Specifications4:3 aspect ratio is fine but please ensure it has an adequate background to meet 16:9 specs. There is no limit to full duration. If you have interviews which are more than an hour long - kei te pai. It could be 21 minutes, it could be two hours or more. Let the kōrero speak. It does, however, need to be a minimum of15:00 minutes.
Māori Television will provide a simple opening and closing graphic sting as well as insert of talent keys.
Producers please provide correct timings.
No closing credits are required.
