Show off your shorts! (Short FILMS that is!)

Posted Thursday 04 Mar 2021

Did you know that New Zealand's Show Me Shorts Festival is an Oscar®-qualifying festival? This means the winners of the coveted Best New Zealand Film Award and Best International Film Award become eligible to enter the Academy Awards®.

Now's the time to show off your shorts! Entries are open for the sixteenth edition of the Show Me Shorts Festival, which is set to take place during 1-21 October 2021.

Each year SMS programmers curate a selection of the best short films from Aotearoa and around the world, plus some of the top local music videos. They are especially looking for cinematic narrative-style films with strong audience appeal, as well as films yet to have their world or New Zealand premiere.

Show Me Shorts is both a travelling festival that screens at 30 cinema locations, and a hybrid festival, so there will also be screenings of select short films online (geo-blocked to allow only New Zealanders to watch them).
