It’s great to hear that Anna Marbrook’s documentary Loimata, The Sweetest Tears is this month in the Official Selection in the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. It’s also in the Official Selection next month at the African Diaspora International Film Festival in New York.
The film follows the last voyage of the great waka maker, sailor and mentor Ema Siope, whose journeys between Aotearoa and Sāmoa in search of healing, and her family’s reckoning with systemic abuse, are powerfully documented.
Also, Anna’s new short film From the Mountains to the Sea has been selected by the 46th American Indian Film Festival in USA, and will screen at a world symposium called Sacred Waters this month.
Ka pai Anna!
