Congratulations to Sharlene George, Kath Akuhata-Brown and Evie Mackay whose shorts have been selected for competition in the NZIFF New Zealand’s Best Short Film Competition.
Chosen by this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival guest selector, award-winning actress and filmmaker Kerry Fox, the six films will compete for three major cash prizes: a Jury Prize of $5000 for Best Short Film, the Creative New Zealand Emerging Talent Award of $4000 recognising a fresh voice; filmmaking that gives life to stories of those less often represented in film, or that speaks to new or existing audiences in different ways, and the Auckland Live Spirit of The Civic Award prize of $4000.
