Great news from Sam Ramlu, whose Method Studios has launched a new games company here in Aotearoa, with studios in Tāmaki Makarau and Ōtepoti.
Sam's Method Studios created Mad Carnival over 10 years ago and with a $250,000 Scale Up grant from the Dunedin-based New Zealand Centre of Digital Excellence (otherwise known as CODE), is now able to realise its dream "to create a studio focused on creating games for everyone".
Sam says that having a 7-year old has made her conscious of the content he consumes, so she is "on a mission to add more non-violent games to the ecosystem. Games that can be enjoyed by the whole family and promote togetherness and joyful entertainment". Games like Manu Pinball on TVNZ's platform HEIHEI, which combines the old-school pinball game while showcasing the vibrancy, beauty and melodies of Aotearoa's native birds.
Although still largely under wraps, the studio’s first large project was being developed in partnership with an unnamed major international social media platform, and a scheduled release date in July.
