This issue we have five double passes to give away to an incredible documentary courtesy of our friends at Madman.
Directed and written by Marie Amiguet, The Velvet Queen is filmed high up on the Tibetan plateau, amongst unexplored and inaccessible valleys.
It follows renowned wildlife photographer Vincent Munier and adventurer and novelist Sylvain Tesson (In the Forest of Siberia) as they search for unique animals and try to spot the snow leopard, one of the rarest and most difficult big cats to approach.
Franco-Swiss Amiguet, who trained as a biologist and then obtained a Master in wildlife cinema (IFFCAM), first worked with Munier on Silence des Bêtes, a protest against lynx poaching. In The Velvet Queen, Amiguet's aim was to document the encounter between a writer and photographer.
She says, "I was curious to discover what sort of fireworks would be prompted by this intimate encounter, with, on the one hand, Vincent, a man who’s very receptive to nature, obsessed by beauty, and effectively a man of few words, and on the other, this extremely talkative writer who lives life to the very full."
