A poignant tale that follows three generations of strong Australian women, Ruby’s Choice stars two-time Golden Globe-winning actress Jane Seymour, and is coming to NZ cinemas on 4 August, 2022.
(Note, we ran a giveaway for this film in February but its release was delayed. Winners of that giveaway do not have to re-enter, we will send your tickets to you).
After accidentally burning down her house, Ruby (Seymour) is forced to move into the crowded home of her daughter (played by Jacqueline McKenzie) and share a bedroom with her very unwilling teenaged granddaughter Tash (Coco Jack Gillies). The family’s dynamics shift as they navigate their way through daily life caring for Ruby and dealing with the consequences of her dementia.
Australian organisation Dementia Foundation for Spark of Life – the official charity partner for the film – worked closely with the filmmakers to make sure the story was true to real-life experiences, and Seymour says she drew on her own family's experiences to play the role.
