Kiwi game developers will join forces with the film industry in August at Te Papa Tongarewa, to uplift the country’s potential in virtual production.
Called a Convergence Day, it's part of the New Zealand Game Developers Conference, and aims to offer new professional development and networking opportunities for creatives working with emerging technologies across the video game and screen industries in Aotearoa.
The programme will feature a fireside chat with Academy Award™ and two-time Golden Globe™ producer Jon Landau, plus talks from acclaimed visual effects supervisor, director and artist Sheena Duggal (Venom, Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3) and Wētā FX VFX Supervisor Dan Lemmon (The Batman, Man of Steel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), among other renowned industry experts.
Keynote Connie Kennedy is Head of Epic’s Lab in Los Angeles after a career spanning almost two decades in visual effects and virtual production.
The full New Zealand Game Developers Conference programme runs from August 18 - 20 and includes an exhibition open to the public for the first time - the Kiwi Interactive Showcase featuring DocEdge festival’s VR and AR pop-up booths and PC stations to play games developed in Aotearoa.
