Rebecca Tansley’s film of New Zealand Opera’s live, site-specific production of Semele has been picked up by British/German arts content distributor Poorhouse International. Poorhouse works with institutions such as the New York City Ballet, The Royal Shakespeare Company and the Ballet of the Paris Opera.
As a result, the film has been sold to international arts streamer Marquee TV and has also been picked up by Naxos/Opus Arte for a worldwide DVD/Blu-Ray distribution. Opus Arte is an international DVD and Blu-Ray label focusing on opera, ballet and theatre productions from the Royal Opera House and its key partners, including the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Globe.
Starring Emma Pearson and Amitai Pati (pictured) and a host of other opera talent from Aotearoa, Semele was filmed live in Auckland’s Holy Trinity Cathedral in association with Greenstone TV.
You can catch Semele on Saturday 18 June, 8.30pm on Sky Arts and it will also be available on Sky Go for 30 days following this broadcast.
