Here's a big shoutout to the many WIFT members involved in this six-episode anthology series of supernatural stories:
Ngaire Fuata, Sharlene George, Libby Hakaraia, Jane Holland, Morgan Leigh Stewart, Hweiling Ow and Kerry Warkia all have directing, writing, producing credits, while Ginny Loane was the cinematographer.
Beyond The Veil is a collection of stories exploring the supernatural beings associated with Māori, Pasifika, and Filipino cultures. Nevak Rogers, TVNZ’s general manager of local content told The Spinoff earlier this month that the idea for the series came from a screen hui a few years back focused on the need to establish more pathways for tangata whenua and other ethnic groups to get onto prime time TV.
“The goal is that these storytellers will be able to use this platform to go on to bigger projects.”
