Kiwi co-pro in Canadian awards lineup

The trailer for indigenous sci-fi thriller Night Raiders has just launched ahead of its New Zealand theatrical release on 24 March. Produced for New Zealand by Ainsley Gardiner and Chelsea Winstanley Night Raiders has been nominated for Best Motion Picture, and Cree-Métis writer-director Danis Goulet is nominated in both the Original Screenplay and Achievement in Direction categories at the Canada Screen Awards in April.

Set in 2043, the Canadian-New Zealand co-production is a female-driven dystopian drama about resilience, courage and love. A war has left North America in the throes of military occupation. Children were forcibly adopted by the state, and brainwashed into becoming soldiers for the army. Niska, a Cree (indigenous Canadian) mother, joins an underground band of vigilantes to try and rescue her daughter.
