NZOA funding supports talented WIFT members

Congratulations to all those who received funding in the latest rounds from NZ On Air, for scripted content and for digital first content for tamariki.

*Cadness Street (Abba Rose Vaiaoga-Ioasa) receives up to $270,000 for I Got You 2, 8 x 5 mins. 

Sunpix receives up to $100,000 for Mysterious Ways, 1 x 90 mins, for TP+.

Gibson Group receives up to $1,900,000 for Miles From Nowhere, 6 x 22.5 mins, for Prime. 

*Greenstone TV receives up to $1,273,486 for Kid Sister 2, 5 x 22 mins, for TVNZ+ and TVNZ 2. 

*Connected Media Charitable Trust receives up to $280,000 for Someday Stories 7, 6 x 10 mins, for RNZ (Anna Duckworth, Alix Whittaker).

Note: Funding marked with an asterisk (*) is for content intended for broadcast on TVNZ or RNZ. Assuming the legislation establishing the new ANZPM passes, NZ On Air funding would end at 30 June 2023. This means these funding amounts may be subject to change. (Funding of $1m or less is unaffected in this round for timing reasons).

Meanwhile, NZ On Air has invested in the production of 16 dynamic new local series and games – available to tamariki across a wide range of digital and traditional media platforms – in the first funding round since the release of NZ On Air’s new Children’s Content Strategy in July.

Whitebait Media receives up to $1,979,964 for *Brain Busters 2023, 160 x 25 mins, for TVNZ 2. Its funding for *What Now 2023 for TVNZ 2 is yet to be confirmed.

Rogue Productions receives up to $1,152,088 for *Toi Time! 2, 20 x 29 mins, for TVNZ 2.

*Speak Māori for Kids 2 (Producer Andrea Kahukiwa) receives up to $567,820, 150 x 4 mins, for Adrenalin for YouTube, the Speak Māori For Kids website, and Māori Language.net.

Sweetshop and Green receives up to $731,305 for *Bird’s Eye View 2, 10 x 5 mins, for TVNZ+, TVNZ 2, RNZ and Whakaata Māori.

Tikilounge Productions receives up to $697,000 for *Fresh Fairytales 2, 5 x 15 mins Scripted + 5 x 2 mins for TVNZ+, TVNZ 2, Coconet TV, and YouTube, 30 x 1 mins for TikTok.

Greenstone TV receives up to $489,603 for *KPA – Battle Squad, 8 x 20 mins, for TVNZ and TVNZ+.

Treehut (Suzy Cato) receives up to $136,000 for *Suzy and Friends 2023, 53 x 45 mins, for 26 regional radio stations.

Rude Girl Productions receives up to $267,730 for *The Poo Files 2, 20 x 2 mins, for TVNZ+, TVNZ 2 and Rova.

POW Studios receives up to $500,000 for *What Will I Be Today?, 9 x 5 mins, for TVNZ+ and RNZ.

NZ On Air has also invested in the production of five innovative new games for tamariki.

Mad Carnival (Executive Producer Sam Ramlu) receives up to $77,340 for Kai Navigator for HEIHEI Games.
