Rug up and enjoy a night of Lithuanian short films

April marks the beginning of Show Me Shorts' season of five Short Film Nights, which kicks off with the Lithuanian Short Film Night. These events are always popular and New Plymouth screenings have been added to those in Wellington and Auckland. SMS also now offers a ‘Season Pass’ for all five screenings in Auckland and Wellington.

The first collection for the Short Film Nights offers a glimpse into the real and imagined lives of Lithuanian people and the creativity of their filmmakers. You will find comedy, animation, mystery, high drama and a snake on the loose!

Dates and locations:

  • Auckland - 7pm Tue 18 April at The Kingslander
  • Wellington - 7pm Wed 19 April at Southern Cross
  • New Plymouth - 7pm Thu 20 April at Govett-Brewster
  • On Demand - 22 & 23 April at Show Me Shorts On Demand

The films:

  • Miškas (Woods) is an animation about an old hermit scientist who tries to catch a mythical creature, who lives in the forest and glows in the dark.
  • Išvyka (The Trip) is a drama about a couple on a trip to a relationship resort, when their car mysteriously disappears.
  • Š (Sh) is a short musing on the way we can feel helpless if we think too much about all the problems of the world.
  • Snaiperis (The Sniper) is a criminal comedy about a hitman, whose only wish is to run away from everything.
