WIFT NZ member's play dissects the human cost of making art

Directed by Harriet Maire, this punchy 80 minute play is by artists, for artists. It's on at the Basement Theatre from 18 - 22 April so go and book your tickets now and support a fellow WIFT member as well as all the artists out there.

Champions follows four emerging visual artists vying for a prestigious award. When one finalist rejects a proposal to split the $50,000 prize, they are set on a crash course of ruthlessness, betrayal, and destruction.

Told through a poetic series of interwoven monologues, Champions is a heart-wrenching theatrical dissection of greed, ambition, and the true cost of making art. When success comes down to survival of the fittest, what does it really take to “make it”?
