A major music conference, a workshop and two scholarships on offer

Don't miss the Aotearoa SyncPosium, a two-day conference presented by WIFT NZ member Karyn Rachtman's company Mind Your Music. The Auckland conference will feature some of the world's biggest industry leaders in music made for the screens.

The conference will be followed by a FREE two-day workshop. Numbers to the workshop are limited to 40 and you'll need to apply. Mind Your Music is offering two scholarships to workshop attendees from outside of the greater Auckland / Tamaki Makaurau area which include return flights and accommodation for the workshop days.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Date: 8-9 March, ROUNDHEAD STUDIOS
151 Newton Road, Eden Terrace, Auckland

Participants will take a deep-dive into the opportunities at the intersection of music and visual media. There will be active briefs to fill from major motion picture studios, independent films, commercials & agencies.

Additionally, every attendee will receive hands-on advice and guidance on crucial aspects relating to music for screens from speakers and mentors including:

Workshop topics include:

● Preparing, reviewing & submitting your playlist for licensing opportunities.
● Putting together your composer reels for commercials, film & television.
● Creating bespoke pieces for briefs in television, film and video games.

Application deadline 17 February 2023. It is recommended that workshop attendees attend the preceding conference.

  • Concerts to composers - a talk with rock/pop stars about their journeys into becoming composers
  • Songwriters & Producers discuss the different approaches they take when writing for themselves versus writing for others.
