The deadline to apply for this awesome opportunity is 10 March so don't leave it too late! The Pan-Asian Screen Collective's Short Cuts is a development lab accompanied by one production grant of $15,000 available to fund a scripted short film under 10 minutes in length. Designed specifically for Pan-Asian practitioners, the fully-funded development lab will host up to eight teams in May 2023.
Short Cuts is designed to deliver a series of workshops and discussions over 2.5 days to nurture and strengthen Pan-Asian projects and/or teams.
The objective is two-fold: firstly, to empower new and emerging Pan-Asian filmmakers to develop their scripted short films, and to significantly advance applications for production grants from other initiatives such as NZFC/Script to Screen’ Fresh Shorts, Outlook for Someday and NZ On Air. Secondly, to provide PASC production funding for up to $15,000 to the best team to take their project from page to screen.
Scheduled on the final weekend of May 2023, the Auckland-based lab will address topics relevant to writers, directors and producers of short films. The development lab is free and will feature sessions from experienced New Zealand filmmakers.
PASC Executive and Short Cuts Convenor, Dr Shuchi Kothari, will be joined by other senior practitioners to deliver the syllabus.
