The exhibition of GUO PEI: FASHION, ART, FANTASY is on until May 2024 at the Auckland Art Gallery, and back in 2018, Pietra Brettkelly made Yellow is Forbidden, an extraordinary documentary whose subject was Guo Pei! The film was the New Zealand selection as Best International Film and Best Documentary at the 2019 Oscars.

"Pietra Brettkelly’ s visually stunning new documentary… mesmerising” Vogue
The featured image is the exhibition opening with Pietra and Madeleine Brettkelly with Guo Pei, standing in front of the famous cape designed by Guo Pei and worn by Rihanna at the Met Gala 2015.
Pietra said of her time with Guo “We hadn’t seen each other in five years, and it was like no time had passed. At the end of her visit, she said to me that I should do a film on her every 20 years - so there’s the rest of my career sorted!”
We highly recommend the gallery and the film as a wonderful summer time art excursion.
